How It Works

Learn how to get the most out of Table Hoarder.

Card Tables

Card Tables are keyed to a standard playing card deck. Each suit (Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades) can be assigned a theme and result, and each individual card has its own result entry. Once created, click playing_cards Draw on Table to draw a random card and get its result.

Adding a Sequenced Card Table

Use this sub-type when each card in the deck maps to a result in a fixed order.

  1. 1. Optionally select a folder in the sidebar to place the table inside it.
  2. 2. Click table New Table in the action bar.
  3. 3. Enter a name and optional description.
  4. 4. Select Card Table as the type and Sequenced as the sub-type.
  5. 5. Fill in a theme and result for each of the four suits in the Suits section.
  6. 6. Fill in the result for each card in the Cards section, following the fixed card order.
  7. 7. Click Save Table to finish.

Adding a Ranged Card Table

Use this sub-type when a single result should apply across a range of cards rather than one card at a time.

  1. 1. Optionally select a folder in the sidebar to place the table inside it.
  2. 2. Click table New Table in the action bar.
  3. 3. Enter a name and optional description.
  4. 4. Select Card Table as the type and Ranged as the sub-type.
  5. 5. Fill in a theme and result for each of the four suits in the Suits section.
  6. 6. Use Add Result to add rows. For each row, enter the range of cards it covers and the result text.
  7. 7. Click Save Table to finish.

Using the Formula Builder

Result fields support interactive tokens that are evaluated each time a card is drawn. To open the Formula Builder, click the function icon at the right edge of any result field. Tokens can be combined with plain text in the same result.

  • casino

    Dice Roll — inserts a live dice roll into the result. Choose the number of dice, the die type (d4 through d100), and an optional modifier. The token is evaluated every time the result is shown.

    {2d6}   {1d20+5}   {3d8-2}

  • link

    Roll on Table — embeds a roll on another table in this workspace. Select the target table and the number of times to roll it. The linked table's result is resolved inline when this result is displayed.

    {TABLE:42:1}   {TABLE:7:3}

  • refresh

    Reroll This Table — discards the current result and draws again from the same table. Set the number of additional draws. Useful for rows that should never land as a final result.

    {REROLL}   {REROLL:2}

Viewing a Card Table

Clicking a table in the sidebar loads it in the main content area. Two sections are displayed:

  • Suits — shows each of the four suits (Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades) with its theme and result.
  • Cards — for sequenced tables, lists every card with its theme and result in fixed deck order. For ranged tables, lists each defined card range and its result.

Drawing from a Card Table

Click playing_cards Draw on Table to draw a random card. A dialog window appears showing:

  • Drew — the card drawn, e.g. "Ace of Spades". Jokers have no suit and are shown without one.
  • Suit Theme / [Table name] — the theme and result defined for the drawn suit, if any were filled in.
  • Card Theme / [Table name] — the theme and result defined for the specific card drawn, if any were filled in. Formula tokens are resolved live.

Editing a Card Table

  1. 1. Click the table in the sidebar to select it.
  2. 2. Click rule_settings Edit Table in the action bar.
  3. 3. Update the name, description, suit themes, or card results, then click Save Table.

Deleting a Card Table

Deleting a table permanently removes it and all of its rows. This action cannot be undone.

  1. 1. Click the table in the sidebar to select it.
  2. 2. Click delete Delete Table in the action bar.
  3. 3. Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.
